Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 August 2026
This policy explains what personal information Errata collects, why, and the choices you have.
1. Who we are
Errata ("Errata," "we," "us") is a pre-launch brand operated by Kyran Shao / Errata, a pre-launch project, based in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. This website (errata.uk) is currently an informational and waitlist site. For any privacy question or request, contact us at hello@errata.uk.
2. What we collect
- Information you give us. When you join the waitlist, we collect the email address you submit.
- Information collected automatically. Our hosting provider records standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. Microsoft Clarity also collects website usage and interaction data, including page views, clicks, scrolling, mouse movements, device and browser information, and approximate location derived from an IP address.
- Your analytics preference. Your allow-or-decline choice is stored locally in your browser so the site can remember it.
We use Microsoft Clarity to create behavioural metrics, heatmaps, and session replays so we can understand how the site is used and improve it. Analytics and advertising storage are denied by default. Clarity uses analytics cookies only if you allow them; advertising storage remains denied. See our Cookie statement for details.
3. How we use your information, and our legal basis
- To contact you when the first Errata kit is ready, and to send occasional updates you have asked for. Our legal basis is your consent, given when you join the waitlist.
- To operate, secure, and improve the website. Our basis is our legitimate interest in running a safe, functional site.
- To understand which pages are useful and where visitors encounter friction, using Microsoft Clarity analytics. Clarity operates in limited cookieless mode by default; analytics cookies are used only after you give consent.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decisions about you or to target advertising.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the site and the waitlist, and only as needed:
- Hosting / content delivery: Cloudflare, Inc. (serves this website).
- Website analytics: Microsoft Corporation, through Microsoft Clarity. Microsoft processes website interaction data as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- Email / waitlist management: an email/waitlist provider to be confirmed before public launch.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, safety, or property. We do not sell your data.
5. International data transfers
Errata is operated from China and serves audiences in the United Kingdom and North America. Your information may be stored and processed in China, the United States, and other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have data-protection laws different from those where you live. By submitting your information, you understand and consent to this international transfer and processing.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist email until you ask us to remove it, or until the launch campaign it was collected for has ended, whichever comes first. Server logs are kept only for a short period for security and troubleshooting. Microsoft retains Clarity analytics data according to its published retention periods.
7. Your rights and choices
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send, or by contacting hello@errata.uk.
You can review or withdraw your analytics-cookie choice at any time using “Analytics settings” in the site footer. Withdrawing permission returns Clarity to limited cookieless mode. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings; this does not prevent you from using the site.
If you are in the United States (including California)
Depending on your state, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold, to request its deletion or correction, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share your information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To make a request, email us.
If you are in the UK or EEA
You have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
8. Children
This site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. How we protect your information
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the brand develops (for example, at launch, or if we add analytics or e-commerce). We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to let you know.
